If you have read self-help books in the past but maybe didn't get all the way through the book or, what you read didn't seem to make a difference to your life, then this my friend, is for you.
If you would like to finally breakthrough to a genuine love for life that will take you to a whole new level, please keep reading.
My name is Michael Madison and I am the author of this book, Life's A Party - The 10 Steps to Make Sure You're Invited. I would like to tell you a little bit of my story so you have an idea of where I am coming from and why I wrote this book.
I had, what most would consider, a troubled past when I was in my mid-teens where I battled several confidence issues and as a result landed myself in a whole mess of trouble. Now, I know what you are thinking, what teenager doesn't deal with some insecurity and get into trouble. I agree, but this was the kind of trouble that will land someone in jail and it nearly did on several occasions. I did manage to maneuver my way into adulthood without a criminal record, but just barely, and it was a miracle that I did. At around the same age I was involved in heaps of Atrouble, by some divine intervention, I was also introduced to the world of self-help. When I first started to listen to tapes (that's right, they were tapes back then) with this material on them, I will tell you, it completely captivated me. It was an entirely different way of thinking that, previously, had never crossed my mind. It was all so positive and really made me feel great about myself and, man, did I need to hear it.
It was not long after that, I actually started making a few friends, however limited that number may have been. Another benefit grew from this new world I had been exposed to...I was beginning to be able to talk to girls. I was no pickup artist by any means, but you have to understand where I was coming from...I was able to "TALK" to girls. I was able to "TALK" to girls. As the years went by, and I continued to read books, listen to tapes and attend seminars, my confidence began to build and along with it, my group of friends was also growing. I was learning not only what it took to make friends, but more importantly, what it took to be a good friend. I was learning not only what it took to make friends, but more importantly, what it took to be a good friend. It was then, at the most confident point of my life, I was dealt an extremely devastating blow. I was diagnosed with cancer. I was diagnosed with cancer. That's right, at 26 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer.
I would eventually lose 68 pounds on my way to an extremely frail 142 pounds. Now, I am 6 feet tall when I stand up, I guarantee there is no one on the planet, that will tell you that is a good weight. If that wasn't bad enough, one of the tumors was touching my spine, which landed me in bed for well over a month...straight.
I don't know if you have tried staying in bed for a month with very little movement, but I will tell you, when you go and try to walk after, your legs won't be much good to you. Because this is exactly what happened to me, I pretty much had to learn to walk again. When I say, "I had to learn to walk again", I mean my first venture out of my bed was with a walker...ten feet down the hall...then back to bed.Â
I Â obviously made a full recovery, minus a few scars here and there, but a full recovery none the less...but it was for a very good reason that I made it back. It turned out, that my exposure to self-help when I was much younger, gave me the the necessary knowledge, focus and the all important attitude to make it through what many people do not. In fact it was during a trip back to the ward I was on, for a visit this time, when one of my doctors told me, "It was nothing but your attitude that saved you." "It was nothing but your attitude that saved you". I am often asked, "Did your experience with cancer change you"? In the most humble way possible, I always answer the same way, "No, it just proved what I already knew...worked!"
It was that experience that spawned a tremendous number of good things in my life including a new job.
I almost immediately applied for and went to work in a sales position. I applied the same principles to my new career as I did to get through cancer, and I will tell you, the results were amazing. I immediately became a top producer in the company and even earned "Rookie of the Year" in my first year (which is really the only year to earn that award). The following years were equally as spectacular and I would eventually multiply my income by over four times in the process.
It was after five years as a consistent top performer, that I decided to leave that role and share the information on self-help that had played such a vital role in the successes of my life. I knew I owed a great deal to this knowledge...physically, emotionally and financially and what better way to repay that debt than to share that knowledge with others.
Not only that, but I wanted to present the information in a completely different way than it had ever been before. A way that was entertaining and just plain fun to read. Introducing "Life's A Party" The 10 Steps to Make Sure You're Invited I went back through all the self-help information I had read and listened to over the years and came up with 10 things or lessons that I really feel were the most important elements to my success in the various areas, including my battle with cancer.
Then...I reshaped the information using everyday analogies that not only make sense but make the information a lot more entertaining to read. There are a few exercises in the book (don't worry there aren't that many) which you can do to really speed the process of achieving the results you are looking for. I have listed a few of the results you can expect, only because these are what I now experience on a daily basis. - A decreased fear regarding your health.
- An understanding of who you are as a person, and all the benefits of that knowledge.
- An increase in self-confidence.
- A greater understanding of how your subconscious mind works, and the vast influence it has on your life.
- An increased knowledge of how to keep your attitude up, and how this will not only benefit you, but all those around you as well.
- An understanding of how to focus your mind and how powerful a tool that can be.
- An understanding of how your imagination plays a vital role in your life, and your future.
- An understanding of how your self-talk can build you up, or tear you down without you even knowing it.
- A realization of exactly who the voice that only you can hear is, who it is talking to, and why.
- A greater understanding of another person's "vibe" and why it is that you can instantly like or dislike someone.
- A knowledge of how to make quicker decisions.
- A greater understanding of how to reduce or eliminate procrastination.
- And even, how to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to.
